More fun with Jack

I know, I know, that's all I post up now...pictures of Jack. Well, that's pretty much all that we have time to think about these days. My boy Jack keeps us busy all day long. We're getting about 3-4 hours of sleep a day, split into 2 hour sessions. Joanne and I are holding up well because of all the great help our families have provided.

After only 3.5 days at home, Jack racked up 30 diapers! That's almost 9 diapers a day! That's 270 diapers a month! Guess we better go to the store and pick up some more. Thankfully the Diaper Genie has helped keep them all out of sight and out of smell. Check it out!

Dirty Diapers !

Jack has especially loved bath time. Nothing quite like soaking in a nice warm bath after a hard day of eating and napping. Look at the relaxation in his face.

Bath Fun

Oh, wrong picture. I guess it is after the bath when he really settles down.

Just after a nice bath

See you all later!

Jack meets the family

Since the moment he was born, Jack has been able to meet so many wonderful people for the first time in his life. He was especially excited to meet his new grandparents, aunties, and uncles. Look at all the names and faces he has had the opportunity to meet so far.

At home with Jack.

Joanne and I spent Monday and Tuesday evenings with Jack at the hospital in a nice little private room. By Wednesday afternoon, we were able to take Jack home. The pediatrician told us that Jack is perfect and healthy!

Have you seen my favorite T-shirt? It got even better when they stamped Jack's little footprints on them just minutes after he was born. Thanks again, Eddy, for the great shirt.

For all of you that are concerned, Buster is handling the new arrival just great. He loves Jack so much. Whenever Jack is crying for some help, he often beats us to the nursery. He even likes just taking naps right next to Jack whenever possible.

Buster the Guard Dog

Even when you are holding Jack, Buster wants to be right there.

Jack's day is fairly simple: Eat, poo, sleep, and repeat. Since feeding time is a little censored, and poo times are not so photogenic, I mostly capture his moments sleeping.

Yeah, we are loving every minute of it.

Baby Jack is here !

I'm a daddy! Words can not tell you how emotional the last 24 hours have been. Joanne did so well and she had the best delivery I could have ever imagined. If you haven't heard the stats already, Jack Takayuki Hirotsu was born last night, January 22nd at 9:48pm. He was 6 lb 9 oz and 21 inches long and completely adorable. Yeah...I cried.

As noted in the last entry, we showed up at the hospital at 9:00 yesterday morning and with a little help from some fantastic drugs, she was ready to start delivering him by 9:00 last night. We had 13 friends and family cheering for us in the waiting room that night and have had tons more visitors between friends, family, and Joanne's many coworkers. Joanne is doing great now and we should be going home tomorrow some time. I could go on and on, but that's not why you are here. You wanna see some pictures. Well, here ya go.

He's amazing.

He's cute.

Coming soon to a crib near you ...

After a fairly rough evening last night, Joanne and I headed down to Long Beach Memorial Hospital around 9:00 this morning to have her admitted into the Labor and Delivery wing (with all of her coworkers). We got lucky and we have her good friend Beth helping us out as her nurse. After a run of rough contractions, Joanne is now enjoying the joy of an epidural. We're thinking of all of you as we prepare for baby Jack's arrival.

See you soon.

"You're killing me, Larry!"

SitNSleepI'm sure many of you are familiar with the Sit 'n Sleep radio ads where Larry (the owner) and Irwin (the accountant) complain about great mattress deals. Each commercial includes the phrases, "You're killing me, Larry!" and "Sit 'n Sleep will beat anyone's advertised price, or your mattress is FREEEEE!!!". These commercials are completely horrible, but several months ago Sit 'n Sleep had a few ads that were completely different and didn't have Irwin the accountant. As these commercials have become a Southern California staple, people began to worry that something had happened to Irwin. After several complaints, they brought Irwin back.

Anyway, since then, I have grown to appreciate these commercials. But, their current radio ad describes their deal where you get free sheets with any mattress purchase. They then use a play on words with the word "sheet" and have quotes like "I don't give a sheet" and "You're up sheet's creek". I think they've gone too far. Has anyone heard this ad?

Waiting for baby...

I can't believe that the baby could be here any day now. The due date is in only 11 days! I'm a little nervous, but mostly very excited. Of course, I'm not the one with the baby in my tummy. Joanne has done such a great job with the pregnancy. She definitely got lucky dodging a lot of the sickness, but she mostly has handled it all so well. I know she's had some rough nights of sleep lately.

Our bags are packed and my cameras are charged. I'm ready to go. What have we been up to? Setting up the swing, the bouncer, the toys...it's crazy. Just when I thought 'C' and 'D' batteries were worthless. We've also been putting the finishing touches on Jack's room. It's all ready to go! Check it out!

Our new baby room!

As you can see, we went with the jungle theme. Hard to say no to all those great animals. We're pretty proud of the new room and Buster is especially fond of all the decorations. We just hope he doesn't get too jealous when Jack arrives.

And Joanne just loves the new glider. I think we'll both be loving it once Jack shows up. Just can't wait for the hourly wake up calls!
