They then use a play on words with the word "sheet" and have quotes like "I don't give a sheet" and "You're up sheet's creek". I think they've gone too far. Has anyone heard this ad?

Yes, I have. And the response by the radio stations are just as interesting to note.
ReplyDeleteThe running pun theme on the new ad is "giving a sheet," which is a play on the phrase "giving a shit", which of course cannot be played on public radio. The puns are used in several places in the ad.
On KABC radio, the commercial bleeps out every time the word "sheet" is used in which many people would associate "shit" with the word, as in "giving a sheet" or "sheet out of luck."
KFI radio, on the other hand, allows the words to go unbeeped.
